Troubleshooting

My income figure does not match my till

Why an event’s Income can differ from Shopify or Square — discounts, and who is in charge of the number.

  1. 1First: is your account set to Gross or Net? Settings -> Business. Gross counts sales before discounts; Net counts what actually landed. The gap between the two figures IS your discounts, so a number that looks short by exactly your promo total is this setting, not a fault.
  2. 2Second, and this is the one that catches people: typing your own number into the Income box tells FairKeep to stop updating that event from your till. It is treated as you taking charge of that figure, which is usually what you want — but it means the event stops following your sales from then on.
  3. 3The event will tell you which is happening. If it says the figure came from your till, automatic updates are running. If it says you typed it, they are not.
  4. 4To hand an event back to automatic updates, clear the Income box and press the sync button for your till.
  5. 5Money that did not go through your till — tips, vending, a workshop fee — belongs in Other Income, not the Income box. Putting it in Income is what silently switches the sync off for the rest of the show.
  6. 6A show still short after all that is usually a register that was ringing but is not linked to the event. See the sales report guide.
