Drive miles are not filling in

What mileage needs before it can work, and why a backfill takes longer than you expect.

1. 1Mileage needs your home address — Settings -> Business. Without it there is nowhere to measure from, and the backfill refuses to run rather than guessing.
2. 2It also needs the event to have a location it can find on a map. A booth number or a hall name with no town in it cannot be located, so those events stay blank.
3. 3Run the backfill from Settings -> Mileage Backfill. Fill in missing drive miles leaves anything you have already entered alone; recalculate all replaces every figure, including ones you typed yourself.
4. 4It tells you how many events still need their address looked up and roughly how long that will take. Looking up an address has to be done slowly to stay inside the map service’s limits, so a first run on a few hundred shows is genuinely slow.
5. 5Events FairKeep has already located are done at full speed, which is most of them after the first run — so later runs are much quicker than the estimate suggests.
6. 6Only one backfill runs at a time. Starting a second while one is going tells you to wait a minute, and that is all it means.
