Troubleshooting
The assistant says it cannot read my document
What it can actually open, and why the answer is sometimes just further into the file.
- 1It reads PDFs and text files. A photo of a page, or a PDF made by scanning paper, has no text in it to read — it is a picture. You will be told that rather than given a guess at what it says.
- 2A scan can be made readable by running it through any OCR tool and re-uploading the result. Nothing in FairKeep does that step for you.
- 3If it CAN read the file but keeps missing your answer, the file is long. A real exhibitor manual runs to dozens of pages and far more than fits in one reading, so it gets the opening pages by default and the load-in times are usually further in.
- 4The fix is to ask for what you want by name: "what does the manual say about load-in times" works better than "read the manual". Naming the thing lets it jump to the part that mentions it.
- 5Connected AI apps cannot reach documents at all — only the assistant inside FairKeep can, and only for documents your role is allowed to open. An API key has no route to your paperwork by design.
- 6If it says a document does not exist and you can see it, check its access level. A document set above your role is invisible to you and to the assistant answering as you.
