My income per hour is missing, or looks wrong

Why the per-hour figure is blank on an event but present on Reports, and when it is an estimate rather than a measurement.

1. 1On an event, the per-hour figure needs a start time AND an end time AND an income figure. Missing any one of the three and it does not appear at all — there is nothing to divide by.
2. 2It also needs the end time to be later than the start time. A show that runs past midnight — say 6pm to 1am — reads as an end before its start, and the figure disappears. Record it as ending at 11:59pm to get a usable number.
3. 3On the Reports page the figure almost always appears, even for events with no times on them. That is the source of the "it works there but not here" confusion, and it is worth understanding rather than trusting.
4. 4Where times are missing, Reports ESTIMATES: eight hours a day, or six if only a start time is recorded. That is a reasonable guess and it is not your day. A four-hour Saturday morning market costed at eight hours reads as half the hourly rate you actually earned.
5. 5So a per-hour number you want to make decisions on needs real times on the events. Adding them changes the figure — that is the estimate being replaced by your actual day, not the number breaking.
6. 6If you count setup, breakdown and travel in your hours, turn that on in Settings -> Business. It applies to both screens the same way, so they keep agreeing.
7. 7Deciding what counts as a good hourly rate for your business is a separate setting, also in Settings -> Business, under what counts as a good hour.
